Experiencing Craft: The New Avatars of Traditional Craft
Session Abstract: There has been a drastic shift in market for the 'karigar'. Having traditionally made products relevant to his rural environment, he is now forced to sell to an urban audience whose lifestyle he does not understand. In order for the new market to understand 'karigari', it is important to create an experience, a relevance for the customer. This session would focus on new ideas like craft consultancy services, craft tourism, artisan interactions and new marketplaces that could transform how the market perceives and adopts traditional craft in the modern lifestyle.
